Faculty and Students First

We believe unions should put mission of the university first! 

By supporting our members we are supporting our students.

 

EMU faculty members pay dues to the union in order to receive their support when an administrator violates the contract and it affects their pay, benefits, and/or working conditions.  We believe this is one of the most important tenets of a strong faculty union.  We will restore the union’s support of its members.

  • We will promptly answer your calls to the union office.

  • We will respond quickly to your emails.

  • We will communicate frequently to the chapter members and with stewards.

  • We will try to solve your problems first and grieve second.

  • We will guide you through the reappointment, tenure, promotion, and PPE process.

  • We will behave with civility at all hearings and meetings. We will not engage in name calling, yelling, or irrational behavior against others.

  • We will listen to all our members concerns.

  • We will not engage in support of political agendas or support other unions over our own. At the same time, we will be active in the EMU all-union-council and work with other executive union leadership for common causes.

  • We will never FOIA the emails of any faculty member for any reason.

  • We will ensure timely reviews of any updated DID or DED, along with immediate posting of the final version on the official Academic HR website.

  • We will protect faculty from being assigned administrative duties secondary to cuts in administrative staff.
